Podcasting and Internet

We have discussed and blogged about freedom and responsibility on the Internet. We then saw how this freedom means there can be great bias in web pages. Now we will look at two more topics, podcasting and safety.

After the class discussion, can you imagine how to use Internet media like podcasting and MySpace or Mixi pages to broadcast yourself? What are the benefits? Do you have a Mixi page? Why? How do you use it? Can you imagine the future of Internet media? What will it be like?

I have Mixi because we can know how our friends have been getting on by their blog. I have never think about the danger of Mixi. I do not show everyone my real name and any other privacies, and I do not posy the blog. But, many people show their privacies. It is dangerous because
someone whom they do not know may see their privacies and ill use them.

Internet publishing and blogs

Can we rely on the source? Can we trust the information we find in blogs. How do know if a blogger is telling the truth or telling lies? Is there a bias?

1. In Japan, people think Japanese foods in other counties should be checked. It is because that they think real Japanese foods should be promoted.

2. In other countries people think bringing other culture will be changed is natural. Especially palate is different for each other country, so we may change it. And it has been repetition for many years ago, then new culture created. I think it isn't wrong thing.

3. I think the Japanese page is biased because Japanese will protect only own culuture. To protect it is not wrong but right. However Japanese does it too much. Surely to teach how to cook Japanese food for foreigner is good. but I think the protect of governer isn't proper.

Privacy and Responsibility on the Internet

I am a student in Japan.

I study about safety and security on the Internet.

I have been using a computer since junior high school. I learned about how to type and use Word and Excel, but little privacy.

Question 1.
Do you think most people in Japan are aware of the dangers on the Internet?
No. Many Japanese use mixi. Actually, I also use it. I can see other people's privacies on it, for example their real name, sex, photo, age, hometown and so on. They open their privacy as easy. Also, these days, a boy died with a man who made the suicide website in Japan. If he would not have access the site, he might have not died. So, many Japanese people are not aware of the dangers on the Internet.
